Founded in 1991 jointly by a member of the French Council of State and a social worker, Ares is a leader in the field of professional integration. The association began by focusing on the homeless in areas surround the Gare de l’Est and Gare du Nord stations in Paris, with the support of the government, the SNCF rail company and Manpower (an employment agency). As the the association’s integration facilities grew, Ares began working with all types of excluded groups, and today supports more than 500 individuals a year. Ares strongly believes that no one is unemployable. Its strength lies in making the company a key partner for social innovation. These two principles are both based on work - the principle lever of integration for groups excluded from society.
On the strength of its beliefs and expertise, Ares initiated the first adapted company, Log’ins, created in 2011. Log’ins, a non-profit joint venture, was formed on an alliance between two experts in their fields: XPO logistics, European leader of logistics, and the Ares association. Log’ins, which deals with disabled workers, has a unique objective: to act as a springboard company to allow beneficiaries to quickly and sustainably integrate more ‘conventional’ companies. The company’s success lies in providing employees with social and professional support to overcome the integration hurdles they face. The Societe Generale Foundation this year supports the continued development of this innovative model which will take on a new status in 2018: Adapted Springboard Company.
In 2014, when the Societe Generale Foundation decided to nominate five associations as ‘major partners’, Ares was an obvious choice given the results of its actions and the privileged relationship it has enjoyed since 2007. At the end of 2017, the Foundation is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its partnership with this leading association in the area of professional integration that has formed a fundamental focus for the Foundation’s actions.
