With a strong Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) mission to promote sustainable development of our society, Societe Generale Global Solution Center, invests in high impact programs. In addition to promotion of education, Societe Generale Global Solution Center CSR focus has expanded to include women empowerment and environment sustainability.
On 24 November, Global Solution Center organized the 1st edition of its Annual CSR Conclave. The forum brought together its not-for-profit partners, students awardees from the Talent Scholarship Program, distinguished faculty members to have a close interaction with the executive committee members, senior leadership team, as well as employees from Global Solution Center. The Conclave aimed at not only showcasing Global Solution Center's achievements through its CSR programs and citizen committment, but also to recognize the work undertaken by its partners in social development.
Some of the partners were invited to set up stalls to showcase their work in areas of education, women empowerment and environment to the employees, in efforts to further strengten and broaden the Global Solution Center's citizen committment initiatives.
In order to make the Conclave meaningful for all attendees, a unique campaign - ‘Thank you for putting a Smile' was launched, where Global Solution Center sponsored a child's meal for an entire year on behalf of every employee who attended the Conclave. Over 233 employees enthusiastically attended and signed up for the campaign from across Bangalore and Chennai offices.
Opening the Conclave, Veronique Sani, CEO, Societe Generale Global Solution Center, spoke about the Corporate Citizenship principles and commitment towards social causes at the Group Level and Societe Generale Global Solution Center level. She highlighted the importance of citizen committment and urged "the NGO partners, as key drivers of social good, to closely work with Global Solution Center to further create an opportunity for engagement for all employees."
At the Conclave, Veronique and Sunil Shah, Deputy CEO, Societe Generale Global Solution Center, handed over the scholarship letters to the student awardees selected under the 7th edition of the Talent Scholarship Program. The mentors were also present at the Conclave to meet and interact with the students.
Launched in 2010, the Talent Scholarship Program is the flagship program of Societe Generale Global Solution Center Corporate Citizenship aimed at supporting the higher studies of meritorious students from economically poor background at the premier institute in India. A unique feature of the scholarship program is that every student is assigned a mentor from the senior leadership from Societe Generale Global Solution Center to groom them to become influencers and future leaders. Till date, around 100 students have been awarded full scholarship under the program.
The chosen students represent Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, (IIM A), Indian Institute of Management, Tiruchirappalli (IIM T) Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM B), Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode (IIM K), Indian School of Business, Hyderabad (ISB), and International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore (IIIT-B) and Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IITM).
Guest speaker Nikhil Pant, Chief Program Officer, National Foundation for CSR (NFCSR), Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), discussed the important role CSR funding in aiding inclusive development in India.
