20 volunteers from Societe Generale joined the 2nd NADIA International Soccer Friendly Cup, which was held at Aoba-Japan International School (A-JIS) and Hikarigaoka’s Harunokaze Elementary School over the weekend of the 28 and 29 of May, in which children from the Tohoku region forged lasting friendships with the international community in Kanto through soccer matches and barbecues, etc. Through the collaboration of A-JIS and Hikarigaoka Community, 3 international schools and 2 Japanese schools from the Kanto area and four Tohoku schools were invited to participate in the friendship tournament. Societe Generale supported the event both financially and through volunteer work.
The Tohoku teams arrived at A-JIS in the evening of 27 May. It was a novel experience for many of the children from Tohoku, some of whom had never been to Tokyo before this trip, while a few were returning from last year tournament. The Kanto teams and volunteers arrived in the morning of May 28 to join the opening ceremony. The events continued well into the late afternoon, with the soccer teams visiting the local sent? (bath house) to bathe after their final match, as well as a barbecue dinner hosted by the volunteers. On Sunday, the final matches were held and ended around 2pm, just before the scheduled departure time for the Tohoku teams. The games were followed by a barbecue and closing ceremony.
Thanks to the extensive support of the volunteers, the tournament provided a memorable experience and created long lasting friendships between the children through various activities, which achieved the main objective of the Friendly Cup.
