The fourth edition of Citizen Commitment Week closed last Monday. Let’s revisit this great event in favour of citizen commitment with the whole Citizen team and our correspondents in the Group entities in France and abroad!
Citizen Commitment Week grows in stature and importance with every year that passes. 2011 was yet another occasion to show off the civic projects organised all year round by the various Group entities as part of the Citizen Commitment programme. Brazil, Morocco, Russia, Romania, Canada, United Kingdom and, of course, France: more than thirty countries answered the call to action based on the theme of integration (professional insertion, young people and so on).
The objective is clear: to appreciate together the civic initiatives organised by our colleagues and to raise the awareness of as many people as possible to the issue of integration. Numerous events were held to bring together friends and colleagues.
The Bike Ride was of course among the events held in France. And this year we organised the very first Societe Generale civic flash mob: imagine more than 300 people gathered - in bad weather! – in front of the towers at La Défense to dance silently but in rhythm…A real moment of sharing and solidarity, which resulted in a donation of Euros 3,000 to Secours Populaire (association against poverty and social isolation). A flash mob you must take a look at if you haven’t already done so (here).
Finally, among the actions to remember, we also launched the first Citizen Awards based on a simple principle: employees could choose one of 15 wonderful groups of associations from all around the world and select the project that they wanted to give even more support to. More than 3,500 employees voted and the three winning projects were from Morocco, Romania and CGI in France. They will receive their prizes during the Starting induction event on 5 July.
Citizen Commitment Week is only the high point of a commitment made by Societe Generale all year round. The participation of so many employees just goes to prove once again that there is nothing quite like team spirit!
