Societe Generale and the HKRU Community Foundation in Hong Kong agreed to a three-year partnership, effective this month. The HKRU Community Foundation was established in 2013 with the aim of managing the Hong Kong Rugby Union's charitable activities, using the positive power of sports to tackle society's most pressing challenges and create positive social challenge. The agreement is fully in line with our Group-wide CSR policy to support charities that use sports and cultural activities to promote education and integration of people in difficulty, and is an opportunity for us to contribute to the communities in which we operate.
Robbie McRobbie, Director of HKRU Community Foundation: "We're very happy with this agreement with Societe Generale and look forward to a great and effective ongoing partnership. Many Hongkongers who live in less favourable economic and social circumstances will benefit from our cooperation, especially children from the age of five and up."
For this year, the focus will be on three HKRU Community Foundation-supported projects: the Hong Kong Society for the Protection of Children; ‘Chance to Play', with ChickenSoup; and the second Asian Schools Sevens Tournament. The Community Foundation, as well as our long-established CSR partner in Hong Kong, the Hans Andersen Club, will also partner with us in organising this year's Citizen Commitment Day in Hong Kong on 25 June. More information on this and other Citizen Commitment activities in Asia Pacific will be provided soon
