However, the whole event acquired a charitable dimension this year. Sport bez predsudku [Sport Without Prejudice], an organisation dedicated to engaging socially disadvantaged children in sporting activities, was selected by KB in cooperation with the bank’s foundation Nadace KB Jistota to receive financial support generated through our biking event. KB employees were invited to donate, while they also knew that for every kilometre they rode on their bikes two crowns would be donated to Sport Without Prejudice. KB’s building society Modrá pyramida has been applying the same approach for several years, supporting an organisation called ?erní kon? [Dark Horses], which helps disabled athletes who ride handbikes.
Bike-riding employees from all KB Group companies recorded their sporting performances under a shared header. As a result, we know that there were 178 cyclists who traversed a total of 36,928 kilometres. In a nutshell, we stopped the emission of 4.06 tonnes of CO2, contributed financially to charity not just through the distance travelled but also through direct donations that amounted to almost CZK 87,000 (EUR 3,138), and scored rather well in a nationwide competition where KB took the runner-up spot for its number of participants.
