1000 people gathered at Twickenham's famous grounds to participate in The Corporate Touch Rugby Tournament with Societe Generale on 6 June.
Bringing together employees, their families and children from local schools the bank supports in Tower Hamlets through educational mentoring programmes, the day began with a children's rugby academy and a mixed touch rugby family tournament, which saw each group come together and compete with their friends and family.
The event was an important part of Societe Generale's road to Rugby World Cup 2015 as worldwide partner, and also aimed to showcase the values of the game and those of Societe Generale, namely Team Spirit, amongst the Group's key stakeholders.
As the temperatures soared, so did the competition! 22 Corporate teams took to the pitch in the afternoon and through a series of heats the groups were whittled down to two finalists: "Try before you Buy" and "Scrummers". Jonny Wilkinson kicked off the final, but despite the presence of the sporting legend there was no distracting the finalists. With the game going to extra time, a last-minute try from ‘Try before you buy' helped them clinch the tournament title.
