Bank Republic Provides Financial and Humanitarian Aid to Impacted Families
At least a dozen people are dead and many more missing after severe flooding in the Georgia’s capital. Heavy rain and strong winds on Saturday night turned a stream into a raging torrent. It badly damaged roads and buildings, everything in its path. Homes have been left unrecognisable, with residents shocked and bewildered. The city’s zoo was also engulfed. Tigers, lions, bears, wolves and a hippopotamus were among more than 30 animals that escaped. Some were tranquilised or killed, but others were on the loose. The flooding damage is estimated to run into millions of euros. Monday has been declared a day of national mourning, to remember those who have lost their lives. We, the team of Bank Republic, gathered at the Head Office on Sunday, next day after the natural disaster, to mobilize our resources to help the damaged.
In order to help the families damaged as a result of the flood on June 13, the bank allocated the financial assistance in the amount of GEL 30 000. The items of first necessity collected for the families were given to the Georgian Red Cross Society.
The amounts are still being collected and the account numbers are anonunced on the webpage and facebook page, also sent out with emails. An azeri company already transferred GEL 30 000 to the account. The staff of Bank Republic is also donating.
