As is customary at the beginning of every year, the association Proxité is kicking things off with the "galette des rois" or "king cake" traditionally eaten around the time of the Epiphany. On Monday 19 January, a number of the foundation's actors came out to the Terrasses neighbourhood's municipal hall in Nanterre. The event was an opportunity to make the arrival of the new head of mentoring official and give a send-off to another team member.
This moment of friendly exchange has always been a high point of the year since it began in 2003, bringing together young people, their families, and the foundation's mentors as well as Societe Generale to share ideas.
Over 20 Group employees have already pitched in to help the foundation; several of them dropped in for pleasant discussion over a slice of galette des rois.
Our Partnership with the Foundation
Operating out of its office in Saint Denis for over 10 years, the association has progressively expanded its presence and its outreach capacity by opening a branch in Nanterre in 2007 with the support of Societe Generale. Since 2013, Proxité has sought to extend its scope throughout the Paris region, in areas with abutting working-class neighbourhoods and business districts, to help youths transition to the work world. A plan of action has been set up with a view to progressively achieving the goal of sponsoring 500 youths by the end of 2015.
The foundation is developing its two most recent branches, particularly in Noisy-le-Grand (93), with notable involvement from Societe Generale employees at the site in Val de Fontenay.
