Located in the 19th arrondissement in Paris, Riquet used to be a covered market before becoming the heart of Emmaüs Défi’s activity in 2012.  Emmaüs Défi is dedicated to creating innovative solutions to get people off the streets and out of difficult social situations. One of its major activities is its job integration workshop devoted to reclaiming used objects and materials to be sold in second-hand shops. More than 3000 people visit the Riquet second-hand shop every Saturday where a hundred people on back-to-work contracts are helped to get back into the working world.

On a literary note, on this occasion, the author Lise Benincà presented her book "Des objets de rencontre" written after spending nine months at Emmaüs Défi. The association, a real social innovations laboratory, opened its doors to the author who relates her encounter with the objects, and the men and women who go through this extraordinary place.
