The association Objectif France-Inde has joined forces with SEVAI on a project to develop revenue-generating activities for women in Tamil Nadu.

In India, women often lack economic independence, so the association aims to the support the most vulnerable among them by using Self Help Groups (SHG) to provide them with training and support in creating their own micro-enterprise. The women receive government microloans and three years of support from social workers to help them make a smooth transition to independence.

The Societe Generale Corporate Foundation for Solidarity has supported Objectif France-Inde since June 2013. Thanks to this partnership and the Elle Foundation, Objectif France-Inde and SEVAI have identified more villages in which to implement the programme. They are currently focusing on Panchayat Towns (major cities) and plan to create 2 000 groups of women microentrepreneurs.
