As part of the Citizen Commitment Games––a sports and charity challenge held to celebrate Societe Generale’s 150th anniversary––employees raise money for an association and take part in a sports competition.
Every week, discover an association supported by employees taking part in the Citizen Commitment Games.
Croix Rouge Insertion (Red Cross for vocational integration) is an initiative by the French Red Cross that was created in 2011 to contribute to the creation of employment in local areas. It manages, promotes and supports social and vocational integration as part of the Structures d’Insertion par l’Activité Economique (structures for integration through economic activity - SIAE) network.
Working on a national scale, the association aims to develop a new approach to the support provided for workers undergoing vocational integration through training that meets not only the needs of the individuals concerned, but also helps establishments to become more professional. To date, it has a network of 7 establishments active in the areas of organic market gardening, the environment and green spaces and interior finishing in the building trade.
Against a difficult economic background and with the need to make SIAEs more professional, Croix Rouge Insertion plans to take control of struggling vocational integration projects by legal means or by mutual consent or to create new establishments and activities that meet local needs. The objective is to make these structures more professional so that people can work in conditions similar to those they will experience in a future job.
To do so, the association relies on the Red Cross network to spread its activities. It is also launching a scheme for Red Cross volunteers to be able to mentor and support the beneficiaries during and after the programme. Finally, the assocation has created a fund for “sustainable employment” to finance short term empoyment contracts and encourage associations and businesses to provide full time employment when these come to an end. This is the area in which the Societe Generale Foundation for Solidarity started to support the Red Cross in early 2014. Employees in the northern region of the bank have chosen to support the Red Cross during this charitable and sporting challenge.
