As part of the Citizen Commitment Games––a sports and charity challenge held to celebrate Societe Generale’s 150th anniversary––employees raise money for an association and take part in a sports competition.

Every week, discover an association supported by employees taking part in the Citizen Commitment Games.

The TEAK Fellowship, an American charity created in 1998, aims to help high-potential New York students from underprivileged backgrounds obtain places in major universities, including Ivy League schools, and succeed with their studies.

In addition to educational support, it offers training, cultural and leisure activities and sponsorship. It also provides special support with applications to these types of institutions and help with work experience.

To do so, TEAK sets up partnerships with the institutions so that students can benefit from an effective education. Every beneficiary of the programme is placed in a competitive and enriching environment so that they have the best possible chance of going to their chosen school or university. After their studies, the beneficiaries are still supported by the association to ensure a successful transition from university to their future career.

SG America, based in New York, has been sponsoring the charity for eight years and supports the body through both a grant and a range of offers of work experience for the young people in the association’s programme. No less than thirty volunteers from Societe Generale have taken part in simulated interviews and running workshops on financial management and sporting activities.

Since 2008, the Societe Generale Foundation has supported one of the association’s activities: the Professional Advanced Programmes. This project consists of two parts:

The Private Enterprise Internship Program (PEI), open to students ages 16-18, includes professional skills workshops, mentoring and training on Excel. They can apply for summer jobs with businesses which sponsor the association, including Societe Generale.

The Alumni Career Center is open to all the students previously supported by the body. The students receive individual support to help them write their CVs and hone their interview techniques, as well as enjoying access to workshops and events. The programme also offers access to vocational mentors and job opportunities in partner companies.
