Since 3 February, the Group has been asking its employees to get involved in the Citizen Commitment Games, a sporting event held to raise funds for good causes. To celebrate its 150th anniversary, the Group has asked its employees to raise money for charitable organisations around the world.
Employees are asked to form or join sport teams and to raise money for the charity of their choice, in a festive and friendly atmosphere. The sports available (five-a-side football, flag-rugby, pétanque, table tennis, relay races, cycling, etc.) will depend on the country. The variety of sporting events on offer means that all employees, regardless of their sporting ability, can take part.
A global challenge
The challenge, which will involve close to thirty regions and countries, involves several phases. First, employees collect donations from their colleagues, friends and family; they must collect a minimum amount to be able to participate in the local qualifying events. Local rankings will be based on the sporting results as well as the team’s commitment, which is assessed using the amount of donations collected by the team. The teams that make it to the top of the table will participate in the finals in Paris on 14 June. This festive closing event will bring together employees from around the world as well as volunteers who will be helping to organise the qualifiers and the finals.
Commitment and support
Commitment and support are at the heart of this friendly sporting event. All the charitable associations receiving the donations are long-term partners of Societe Generale in France and overseas. Many, like Emmaüs Défi or IECD, receive support from the Societe Generale Foundation. All rely on the support of local subsidiaries – this is the case of Teak Fellowship in the USA and CityGateway in the UK.
An international exchange platform
All exchanges, inscriptions and donations take place on Societe Generale’s internal network - SG Communities. This platform has been totally re-designed for the project, all employees are now able to log on and follow the teams in real time.
