The final straight before Christmas: time to think about giving!
Are you stuck for ideas for presents or a holiday meal with a special touch? The Societe Generale Corporate Foundation is bringing you its top suggestions!
Nothing is easier than finishing your Christmas shopping away from the beaten path while remaining at the height of fashion with the Tissons la Solidarité shopping network. The network offers second hand clothes which have been updated or even completely made over, all in support of reinsertion through La Griffe Tissons la Solidarité. Several addresses in Paris and throughout France are available here: http://tissonslasolidarite.org/la-griffe-tissons-la-solidarite/
For another style of present, try the Emmaüs Défi Bric-a-brac. http://emmaus-defi.org/acheter-solidaire/ Here too, second hand objects are recycled to make vintage pieces which Parisians can’t get enough of! This is another social enterprise, with the 110 employees in the organization receiving training and learning a job thanks to the sorting, recycling and sales activities.
Solidarity, even in the kitchen
If you want to treat yourself and not spend all day in the kitchen over the holidays, try calling a caterer. Once again, the Societe Generale Foundation is there to give you the right names, especially if you are in the South of France. Two favourites are in Marseille: Pain et Partage to furnish your table with an incredible variety of delicious breads and Table de Cana with its “Special Holiday” menu. The Atelier Mandarine, in Aix en Provence, can also provide you with Middle Eastern pastries - a change from the traditional Christmas pudding.
Find something different in Paris with Puerto Cacao. Discover the many facets of Fair Trade chocolate and treat your guests to them too. Finally, if you are feeling ambitious and planning a party for New Year's Eve, solidarity is on the menu once again with Té Éthique catering, to help you dazzle your guests!
