Every week we highlight a partner association of the Societe Generale Corporate Foundation for Solidarity.
Founded in 2006, “Nos quartiers ont des Talents” (our neighbourhoods have got talent) is an association which helps young people from working class backgrounds, with at least four years of tertiary education, to look for work. By taking concrete action such as providing mentoring, the association aims to offer better opportunities for these young people in their search for employment.
In 2009, the association began setting up regional branches in large cities around France. The first was opened in Lyon, followed, among others, by a branch in Marseille for the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region (PACA) of south-eastern France.
A development manager was recruited in September 2012 to help with the deployment of the association in the PACA region. The manager was responsible for contacting private and government partners working on equal opportunities, and for identifying future beneficiaries of the services provided by the association.
After the Marseille branch opened on 22 Nov 2012, 72 young people received support through the end of 2012. In 2013, no fewer than 115 young graduates from disadvantaged backgrounds were supported.
4th National Meeting
Nos quartiers ont des Talents is currently organising its fourth national meeting, which will be held on Wednesday 27 Nov 2013 at the Cité du Cinéma in Saint-Denis for students and graduates alike.
The event will feature three plenary sessions on work and school-related issues, providing the ideal opportunity to meet with professionals. Various companies will be attending, including Societe Generale and members of its human resources team. Two pairs of sponsors from the Group will also be running a CV workshop.
