Every week, we focus on one of the Societe Generale Foundation for Solidarity's partner associations.

Proxité is a sponsorship association that provides young people in working class neighbourhoods with educational support for students and professional assistance for workers.

At Proxité office or on the sponsor’s work premises location, mentoring meetings are held regularly to establish lasting ties. The confidence betweeen the student and the mentor is what is brought out of this experience. By exchanging their experience, they work together on topics related to vocational plans and entering the workforce.

Originally based in Saint-Denis, Proxité now has a network of four of locations in the Paris region, including one in Nanterre, one in Noisy-le-Grand and two in Saint-Denis. 324 young people, from 11 to 30 years old, were sponsored this year.

Located in Nanterre since 2007, Proxité sponsored 7 young people the first year with the support of Societe Generale. In 2012, more than 120 young people benefited from the support of the volunteer sponsors, which include around a dozen Societe Generale employees. The video (in French) present the story of Christophe, Societe Generale mentor, and Zeineb, student, and their working relationship, based on confidence and exchange) More and more young people and families want to apply the a mentoring program and Proxité keep developing their action.
