Societe Generale and the Zakoura Education Foundation have inaugurated the "Shams El Ousra" socio-educational project to build a school, enrol children in classes, improve adult literacy and hold awareness-raising sessions.

The "Shams El Ousra" project in the Bouftouss douar in the Doukkala-Abda region is financed by Societe Generale Morocco and run by the Zakoura Education Foundation*. The project has a number of goals: finance the construction of a school and the enrolment of children from the douar aged between 8 and 16, increase adult literacy and hold awareness-raising sessions regarding health education for women and young girls.

Thanks to this project, 58 children who have dropped out of school or never been to school in the first place are now on an informal educational course, whilst 30 women are benefitting from the community literacy programme.
