Founded in 2004 by Secours Catholique, the Tissons la Solidarité network coordinates 70 work-based integration organisations. Their activities include the sorting of second-hand clothing, sewing and reselling recycled clothing within 125 stores in France. The Tissons la Solidarité brand gives new life to a second-hand piece of clothing by reworking it based on trends suggested by luxury sector professionals. These clothes allow the sale of two annual collections of basic, but unique, pieces with real added value for the training workshop in terms of turnover, but above all for the employees in terms of professional training (validation of job title). Started in 2010, this project now involves 18 associations throughout France. Those involved, 1,700 in total, are mainly women and are employees under subsidised contracts.
